Tuition Fees and Financial Support

SCITT and School Direct Non Salaried Trainees

  • The tuition fee for the course (QTS and PGCE) is £9000
  • The fees are paid in three instalments
  • Autumn term £2250, Spring Term £2250, Summer Term £4500

If you want to pay the fees via a student loan to you should apply to the Student Loan Company as soon as you have received your offer or when the SLC open the application cycle in January if later.

You may also be eligible for additional financial support in the form of a maintenance grant or maintenance loan depending on your income. Further details can be found here http://www.sfengland.slc.co.uk/

Bursaries and Scholarships may be available depending on the subject you are training to teach.

Graduates with a 2:1 and above, who are passionate about their subject and have potential to become outstanding teachers can apply for a scholarship with the appropriate professional body.

Two additional payments £5,000 will be made to teachers of mathematics in their third and fifth year of teaching if they have taught in a state funded school since qualifying as a teacher.

Scholarships and bursaries are paid by Teach SouthEast and are payable in 10 monthly instalments from October to July.

School Direct Salaried Trainees

Salaried trainees are employed by their training school and will be paid a salary for the duration of the course (11 months) equivalent to point one on the unqualified teacher scale which is between £17,000 and £19,000 depending on the location of the school.
