Teacher Degree Apprenticeship in Secondary Maths Education (TDA) BA hons
We are delighted to have been chosen to be one of only eight teacher trainer providers to deliver the pilot Teacher Degree Apprenticeship (TDA) in Maths from Sept 2025, with the course open for applications in Spring 2025.
What is the TDA?
The TDA is a 4-year pathway to becoming a qualified teacher in England. It combines practical, on-the-job training with academic study, allowing you to earn a salary while working towards a bachelor's degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
How does it work?
You will be employed by a school and receive a salary as you develop your skills and confidence. From day one, you will be immersed in the classroom environment, working alongside expert colleagues and becoming an integral part of the school community. Throughout the course you will have 60% (three days a week) on-the-job training and 40% (equivalent to two days) off-the-job time with a combination of online and in-person sessions delivered through our partnership with the University of Sussex.

•Maths degree (at Sussex university)
•School-based training (SBT) (in-school)
•Professional practice (in-school)
Who can apply?
This course is open to a diverse range of applicants, including those already known to us, working in one of our partnership of schools, who wish to become a teacher, as well as year 13 students looking to go straight into work or new individuals not yet known to us who are looking to change career.
What are the entry requirements?
To join this course, you will need to have or identify a school who is enthusiastic about supporting you throughout your apprenticeship or be ready to be matched with an interested school*. *Subject to availability and location.
All applicants are required to have a minimum Grade C or above in A Level Mathematics or equivalent.

Potential applicants should be aware that there is a weekly requirement to travel to the University of Sussex independently,
The course follows the academic year:
•Half terms are directed study time
•Holidays – Easter, Christmas and Summer academic school holiday
